I photographed Design By Them’s I’ll Be Happy When 2025 at its Alexandria showroom on 21 October. Tim Ross, Eliza Gosse and Nasim Köerting spoke about creativity, productivity and happiness, followed by a Q&A hosted by Sarah Gibson. Creativity, conversation and the design community

On 21 October 2025, Design By Them hosted the seventh I’ll Be Happy When at its Alexandria showroom. The evening brought Sydney’s design community together to talk about creativity, productivity and happiness, including the challenge of knowing when a piece of work is finished.

Tim Ross, Eliza Gosse and Nasim Köerting shared their perspectives on creative practice, with Sarah Gibson hosting the Q&A. The conversation explored how perfection can hold up progress, and whether professional success always brings personal satisfaction. All ticket proceeds were donated to Black Dog Institute to support mental health research and action.

EDG Studios photographed the panel and the reception that followed. The gallery brings together speaker portraits, audience reactions and conversations between guests, with wider views of the showroom and its Australian furniture displays. These photographs record the people and details that gave the evening its character, from the discussion on stage to the informal exchanges afterwards.
